This is a question that include all people in today’s society. This is not a trick question but really what’s the definition of being yourself for you. I’ll be writing a book about this however a teacher questioned me about what is the meaning of being yourself. My answer was, I don’t know the meaning of being yourself. So now here I am question myself “What’s the meaning of being yourself”.
As a teenager and a high school student, I’ve been seeing people being different over the years, people I’ve known for years. For the good or for the bad, it’s all about growing up to be yourself but then you get into high school, then you think of what people think of you,how you act, how you dress and you question how do you be you in this changing environment… a lot of things can get influence by people. It makes you think so much, even more for the guys and the girls what to wear, what to say, what to do but the real question is are you still being yourself now? Being yourself for me is... To be good in your skin is wearing things that you feel confident, comfortable and good in regardless of your size. it’s not for example wearing a short dress to school to get compliments from people or making people notice you. It should not make you feel uncomfortable to show more skin or more cleavage. If it is, you are not good in your skin. To love yourself, to be you, to be able to see yourself in the mirror and say to yourself you’re beautiful, you’re smart, you’re awesome to be you and to not be someone else. Be yourself, be in control of yourself, don’t let people run you over, you talk for yourself, you do what you want not what he or she wants, you stand up for yourself if you don’t you’ll be stuck in an invisible box and you’ll get run over and people can’t say who you are because you're the only one who knows who you are. I think to biggest thing that influence people is the judgment of people it’s hard to be yourself when people are looking at you everywhere you go and you don’t know if they’re talking about you in a bad way like your shirt doesn’t match your skirt or your makeup is so ugly but we just have to be strong and ignore or delete the saying in your head. Who cares about what they think of us. We are who we are!!!! Now I can start writing about being yourself in my first novel that I’ll be writing this year Thank you Mr. Patenaude for the reflexion and your help
